A Wonderful Term for KS2 Students at Laurel House

For students in KS2 it has been a fantastic term, and we are incredibly proud of everyone’s achievements. Our focus has been on building positive relationships, developing friendships and becoming familiar with our daily routines. It has been wonderful to see our children grow in confidence, develop their independence and become more settled in their learning.

Throughout this term, we have enjoyed a wide range of exciting, hands-on learning experiences across the curriculum.

In English, we have explored engaging topics and texts including: Pokémon, Minecraft, and Shackleton’s Journey. In History and Geography, we have discovered the fascinating world of Ancient Greece, while in Maths, we have developed our understanding of addition, subtraction, money, budgeting, negative numbers and decimals. Science has provided opportunities for practical investigations, allowing the children to explore different materials and their properties.

Creativity and practical learning have also played an important part in our term. We have enjoyed exploring art, music and drama, learning about different religions in RE, and taking part in cooking, Forest School, basketball and multi-skills. These experiences have helped to develop important life skills including communication, teamwork, problem-solving and resilience, while providing opportunities to learn, explore and have fun.

Above all, we are especially proud of the positive relationships the children have built, the friendships they have developed and the ways they have learned to support and encourage one another. It has been a pleasure to celebrate their individual achievements, both big and small, and to see their enthusiasm for learning and progress in their own unique ways.

Looking ahead to next term, we have lots of exciting learning opportunities planned! We will be developing our poetry skills and learning about The Explorer in English, while in maths we start to focus on fractions. In Science, we will be learning about animals and humans, while in computing, we will be developing our coding skills.
