Welcome

Laurel House holds a special place in the heart of Renaissance Education, named in memory of a long-serving and much-loved member of staff. Formerly known as Walthamstow Hall Junior School, we welcomed our first students in 2026.
Set within 2.98 acres of picturesque grounds, Laurel House offers a serene and spacious environment where children can thrive. The outdoor areas will feature dedicated spaces for horticulture, forest school activities and social interaction, encouraging exploration and connection with nature.
Originally built in 1903, the building has been thoughtfully adapted over the years to include a standalone music block and a separate lodge, blending the historic charm with modern functionality.
Students at Laurel House will develop their learning through engaging in a range of subjects that nurture interests and promote personal strengths. They will have access to a range of teaching styles, including our Active Citizens programme.
At Laurel, we follow the Curriculum with Unity Schools Partnership (CUSP) curriculum, creating a thematic approach to learning. It is a comprehensive, evidence-based educational framework used primarily in primary and secondary schools. There is a strong focus on how children retain information and develop deep subject knowledge, with its design to be highly structured and knowledge rich.
By the time students reach KS3, they receive a balanced curriculum comprising of the core subjects: Maths, English, Science and ICT. They are also given the opportunity to study PSHE, Geography, History, RE, Art, Music and Drama. All subjects work alongside our Active Citizens programme and are part of the AQA Unit Award scheme for skills they have gained. Students are continually assessed to ensure that they are fully supported in accessing the curriculum and prepared for their KS4 journey.
KS4 offers students the opportunity to study for nationally recognised qualifications in Maths, English and Science, including functional skills and GCSE qualifications. Students are also provided with optional subjects at GCSE or vocational levels. Other accredited courses are available based on Students’ interest and future learning goals.
At post-16 level, there is a strong emphasis on supporting our students to obtain qualifications in core subjects and prepare for moving to their next stage of work or education. This is done through our personal development Life Skills programme and the developments of independent living skills.
